I WILL NOT MARRY YOU
Jéh Jewels for Plan International.
Girls first.
“13 million girls are at risk of becoming brides, two million girls are at risk of experiencing female genital mutilation, and millions are at risk of never returning to school once they reopen. If we do nothing, girls could watch their hopes and dreams disappear.”
Those dreams cannot disappear. That is why Jéh Jewels designed a pair earrings in honor of their thirty-year anniversary. Jéh Jewels supports Plan International in their fight against child marriage.
PLAN INTERNATIONAL
Plan International is building a world where girls and boys can fully develop and have equal rights and opportunities. And this is desperately needed, because girls around the world are disadvantaged and discriminated against every day. Plan International implements projects in over 50 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East so that girls can learn, develop, stand up for themselves and make their own decisions. Together with the support of thousands of sponsors, Plan works to improve the lives of girls and boys in developing countries.
FACTS
Worldwide, more than 700 million girls and young women have been married off before the age of 18. And approximately 16 million girls have had their first child before they were 19. In Latin America, too many girls think they can escape poverty and domestic violence by getting married and having a child, but the opposite is true.
LA LEAGUE
All-too-often, teenage pregnancy leads to a girl finishing her education too soon and increases her exposure to exploitation, sexual and domestic violence, and the risks associated with childbirth. Plan International has started in Brazil and Nicaragua implementing a project called La League, which breaks this vicious circle by using football projects to give girls and young women the same opportunities enjoyed by boys.
LA LEAGUE II
Football is a very popular sport in Latin America. It’s highly accessible, because a field and a ball are all you need. But for girls it’s not that easy. They are told that they shouldn’t be playing football, or even worse, not allowed to! And that’s a shame, because playing football is an excellent way for girls to develop, both in sports and in their daily life.
This year Jéh Jewels celebrates its 30th anniversary through a partnership with Plan International. From the founding Jéh Jewels designed and created fairmade jewelry that last. Jéh Jewels is a company run by only women and they all know how important it is to have dreams. With the Plan International earrings, they put Girls first.
